Effective assistance for students and their families
Educational coaching / tutoring in Sydney and regional areas
Educational coaching, tutoring and support: primary, secondary and post-secondary. The subject areas are English, Mathematics (primary), Business Studies and Legal Studies. Some students have improved by 50 per cent on external tests or have reached the top of their school.
Job and career guidance for students, including the writing of resumes and applications. Advice is given concerning available positions including acting as a tutor for applications for work experience and trainee programs. A number of students have been able to gain cadetships at the accounting firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers, for example.
Assistance with choice of school, change of school, choice of subjects and choice of university program. Three recent successes have involved students moving from Penshurst Girls High to Sydney Girls High, from Year 10, and from Killarney Heights High to Manly Selective Campus, from Year 9. Sometimes advice, including the writing of letters if necessary, is provided to resolve issues between families and schools. This an extension of the role of being a successful tutor!
Students being coached and tutored are assisted with educational resources, drawn from a library of 1000 books and a data base of 5000 resource documents. Extensive hardcopy materials are maintained on about 150 texts commonly studied at school. There is also a variety of electronic resources held in the computer system.
Writing services are also provided for parents including resumes, cover letters, applications and statements, and business letters. At present, for example, some 183 resumes including revisions, have been completed. Writing, editing and proofreading, and research are also undertaken for organisations upon request.
Regular distance education services can be provided to students and families living in regional or remote areas, upon request. Face-to-face coaching/tutoring during the school holidays would be possible in some areas.
